Liam McLeish victorious in Holland

Liam McLeish of Primary 5 spent last week on the continent adding to his growing football medal collection. Liam was part of the Celtic U-10 side who went to Holland and took part in two tournaments - playing 22 games in just 4 days!

He competed against famous teams such as PSV Eindhoven, Tottenham, FC Twente, Club Brugge, Hamburg and Duisburg. Best of all however, his Celtic team defeated the mighty Ajax of Amsterdam in the final. It was almost a cup double however the young Celts had to settle for a creditable third place in the second tournament after missing out to the German side Schalke.

Liam received his winner's medal from former World Cup Finalist Mark van Bommell - who played for such teams as Milan, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Hopefully it is the start of many honours to come for Liam in his footballing career.
