Catholic Education Week Assembly

Today we began Catholic Education Week at St Francis of Assisi. To mark the beginning of this important week of faith in our calendar we held an assembly to discuss the "Shining the Light of Faith" in our daily lives. The theme is inspired by the first Encyclical of Pope Francis: 'Lumen Fidei' (The Light of Faith).

Our assembly was presented by the children of primary 5, who led the school in prayer and read scripture. We also sang songs rejoicing in God's light in our lives.

Children from each class were asked to light candles as a symbol of our light can shine for others to see, as we aim to use the talents God has given us to make our world better.

We ended the assembly with a look at Pope Francis and how his actions are a shining light for us all to aspire to.
